If you work for people who don’t appreciate your value then you will end up not enjoying your work either. Its a vicious circle. Choosing the right people to work with really matters. The “right people” can differ from person to person.

Do you get on with these people? Do your values align? Are they going to pay you enough to keep yourself fed and watered?

In this game you are only as good as your last piece of work. High standards must be maintained. You want to make sure your latest piece of work is the best piece of work in your portfolio. I have found that the best clients are ones I feel really need my help, and are appreciative of it. My natural altruistic nature makes me want to help people. Small local businesses have been my best client so far.

It’s not an exact science. You won’t get it right every time. Just do what your heart tells you.
